Gavi Wine
Gavi wine is produced in the southern region of Piedmont. This area, less than one hour from
Milan, Genoa and Turin, is still a peaceful and beautiful land where the country
population has been able to adapt to modern standards without renouncing its tradition.
The Gavi area is characterized by a mild climate that guarantees the production of
grapes with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.
GAVI D.O.C.G. is a pale-dry wine with a fresh flavor that keeps its vintage characteristics throughout time. This wine perfectly accompanies any kind of food.
Only wine produced 100% from grapes grown in a Cortese Vineyard can carry the GAVI D.O.C.G. title.
Rules of production are strict: the production area is a hilly area of 1000 vineyard hectares.
Every hectare should produce as much as 95 tons of grapes, while grapes turned into wine should not exceed 70%.
The minimum alcohol content must be at least alc.vol. 9.5% for the "Gavi tranquillo e frizzante" and alc. vol. 9% for the "Gavi Spumante".
The wine-making operations must be located in the area where the grapes are produced.
